Backup and Restore Registry (Win 9x) (V1.1 10/28/1999)
To Install : Save downloaded Zip file in suitable location, extract its
files into the target application directory. Then view Readme.txt for further
instructions.
In Windows 95 and 98, the registry is stored in several system files.
These files contain data about most of the programs, system settings,
and device drivers on your computer. Sometimes a badly behaved application, or
a device installation that goes bad, can leave your system in a bad state.
Going back a step is then highly desirable, but unless you are able to
cleanly uninstall the application or device, you may be stuck with problems
such as poor performance, intermittent system hangs, and so forth.
One solution is to use this backup utility just before performing an
installation of software or hardware. If you want to restore that state,
then you would use the restore utility.
